I have done something similar to that. I suck at drawing, so what I did was covered the part in the high temp tape, layed a stencil over it and traced with a sharpy. Than removed the stencil and and cut out the section with a hobby nife and removed the unwanted tape. Now your ready to coat.

I bought the Hi-Temp sheets from Eastwood and took them to a sign shop and they ran it through there machine to cut out any stencil i wanted.
That saves alot of work. Plus the guy didnt even charge me and he gave me a roll of the low adhesive tape so i could transfer it to my object with out having to deal with the center of the letters. |
