Default Harley Frame

Hi,
I just p.c. a Harley frame mirror black. The tube's come out great
but the heavy plates were the swing arm attatches was a bit orange
peeled. I don't think the powder was any heavier in that area. Should
I try to pre heat longer, high cure temp? Any idea's?
Thanks,
Art

I'm assuming you blasted the frame. All frames done in my shop get hand sanded quickly with 400 grit paper, this really helps on the plates and brackets.Don't spend alot of time sanding just remove the high spots left from blasting.Preheating longer only helps with outgassing and fisheyes.Going with a higher temp will probably only make the problem worse(it gives the powder less time to flow).

Dale,
I cured the frame at 400 F . Do you feel that is a bit to high a temp?
And yes I sandblasted the frame.
Thanks,
Art

All frames here are baked at 375 but 400 is fine too.Try the hand sand and clean well (don't forget a good hose rinse not a bucket and sponge rinse). The smoother the metal the better if you are really after a mirror, just don't polish it to a shine prior to powdering.
