Thread: Clear coat over Illusion powders?

Default Clear coat over Illusion powders?

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has tried the illusion powders yet and what their results were? Oh, off topic, I just paid the $15 for access to the online manual and was very disappointed that it didn't have a powdercoating section.

Hi. I'm just getting started in powder coating as well, and I've got some of the illusions powder that I am going to use on my chopper's frame. First, though, I'll try to shoot a test part and let you see how it comes out. And as far as the online manual goes, I've subscribed to it (as I started out doing plating) and I recently bought the powder coating machine from Caswell's that came with its instruction manual. To be honest with you, though, I'd recommend that you start with the "Tips and tricks" pinned post in here, and then spend a day just going over all the posts in this forum. There's 10 times as much knowledge to be gained from here than there is in the little booklet that comes with the sprayer. And if you have any other questions, the advantage of buying the gun from Caswell's instead of somewhere else is that as a customer, you can ask them any questions that come up via their support system, which has been a REAL value to me in the chroming so far, and I expect it will be the same as I proceed in powder coating, too. Despite your experience with the online manual (which really DOES need to be listed as being an online PLATING manual, guys) the knowledge you need is here, if you just dig enough for it.
