Purchase of Gun and Equipment

I know this is an odd place to ask this question as Caswell sells the equipment for powdercoating but... I am wondering how their gun compares to say Eastwoods "HotCoat" basic gun. I am willing to purchase the Caswell gun but want to know what makes one gun better that the other when price range is about the same...

Ok this could be touchy to answer, but here goes.There are many different guns on the market.There is spray differences in each type.There are "ease of operation" differences with each one as well.If you are new (and from the question I assume you are) then the Caswell gone is a simple gun that will give a lot of use with great support.Others may have more options, but not for the same price.As for the final product after spraying and baking- the same result can be achieved from any of them.

caswell's is a good starter gun like dale said alot of tech support is there with some of the others it is not as good and caswell stand 100% behind there product's they sell ...... So i would say Caswell

Thank for the info. I have purchased several items in the past from Caswell and no offense to anyone's product but I have seen gun setups on ebay around $69 and Caswell has a simular look to these guns and wanted to make sure that the quality it good. Again don't mean to offend anyone but I want to know me hard earned money goes in the right direction.....

For what its worth...I bought one of those $69 guns on Ebay and have been PC'ing for a year. I've done items ranging from small engine parts to motorcycle rims, a motorcycle frame, large 6' X 4' steel gates, aluminum, magnesium, etc. Every job I've done has turned out great (in my humble opinion as well as the people I've done jobs for) and I would buy another one in a minute. I'm sure Caswell's set-up works good too, but if you're just getting into it and want to keep the spending down, cheap works!

I too have one of the cheap guns as well and it seems to be working just fine. I am however discovering that the Powder makes a huge difference. Using a discount Tool place powder it has a tendancy to produce poor results where as the CASWELL powder I have works great every time. I hope to upgrade to a Caswell gun after the first of the year but all profits right now are going tword a bigger Air Compressor. I think the Powder is a much bigger factor then most people think.

That is GREAT information... I would guess powder WOULD make make a big difference in the final product. I have decided to go with the caswell Gun setup. I like that fact of:

A - I get tis great forum for support
B - Great support from Caswell
C - It fits into the budget I want to spend
D - They have everything I need to get setup.
