MIXING POWDERS

i am new to this. just wondering if two of the same type of powders (different colors) could be mixed together to produce a different color
? i am thinking of mixing almost chrome with some black to make a dark grey metallic. thanks

why dont u just find that color alreay made up instaed of trying to re invent the wheel?

i know i can buy a color close to what i am looking for, but i am wanting to know if powders could be mixed... thanks

guess what it's called blackchrome
you can also look for smoked wich is a translucent black that goes over chrome

In a simple answer..... yes and no.
Yes they can be mixed without problems as long as chemistry is similar.
No they don't mix like liquids to give another shade. If you have any 2 powders in your shop mix them 50/50 and shoot on scrap, you will see.You can change base coat color to change the shade of the top coat or mix and match for different effects.

just as you were told ... why destroy good powder when you can get the color you need!!!!!!

here is an experience i had.... i used almost chrome on a piece and emptied the cup when i was finished, but did not blow out the gun and nozzle parts. i then placed a cup of black on the gun and shot it on a scrap piece of metal. after curing, i found the finish to be a metalic black. something looking like black with silver metal flake. it looked kinda cool.

i did somewhat the same thing ith these same 2 colors and it came out spotted looking like **** up close
