Well, first try with the caswell gun

So, got the gun, and tried on some spare valvecovers i got laying around the shop, still got to experiment a bit, but for first time, and with stuff that have som really "hard to reach" areas, im very satisfied. Flaws are more due to bad prep i think...

When you baked your valve cover with the black did you start your time after the valve cover got to 400? I prebake and then after the part has cooled down to about 100 then I spray the part and put it in to bake. It says 20 minutes so I give about 5 minutes then start the clock for the 20 minutes. I am not for certain if this was the correct method or not. So far the parts that we have done have turned out nice from what I can tell, but the surface is not like glass flat. Could you please set me strait on this. I am looking for a glass flat surface not something that has very small valleys and bumps.

you need the part to be 400deg. before you start the time and as far as glass smooth goes that will all depend on how smooth the surface is to start and the thickness variations of the powder you apply. i dont think you will ever get it "glass smooth" but i might be wrong...

i pre back for 10 min then let cool for a few then shot and put in the oven . i watch for the powder to flow it only takes a few then set the time at 20 and then shut off the oven crack the door and let it all cool down then remove and let it sit for an hour or 2 then i wax them with carnuba to give the deep shine .. and collect my money and start over ( you don't need to wax them but i like every part to shine when it leaves here. to tell you the truth i am still use to polishing but i don't do it any more )
