Default Powder Coat Stove Burner Grates?

Has anyone here ever powder coated any stove burner grates? My gas stove grates are looking pretty shabby, and rather than buy new grates, i thought i might try powder coating them. . . . . I think they are usually coated in porcelain enamel. . . . . Any opinions? I spoke to a caswell tech, and he suggested the burner black coating.

Anyone here have any experience with this sort of thing? Or anything that exposed to high temp and flame?

Thanks,
Lyn

The tip of a blue flame is EXTREMELY hot, way over the melt point of a powder coat. So much so, that the coating will simply burn off.

So, powdercoating is not the answer to this problem.

Look at VHT coatings.

Sand blast, spray on from the can, then cure in an oven to 600f

That's unfortunate. The Caswell tech i spoke to on the phone Tuesday, told me that your "burner black" should work, so i bought your powder coat gun, and a pound of burner black, and had it 2nd Day Air Shipped to me. . . .

I sure wish he would have just told me to buy your $9.00 can of VHT. . . .

Default Re:Gas burner grates

I have not done the grates, but I have done the pans that sit under the burners on my wifes electric range. I used Caswell's "Burner Black" with great results. My wife loved it. No more cleaning or replacing old burnt out pans.
