Chrome clear question

I saw this posted once but can't seem to find the answer. I have read in other posts that the chrome PC dulls a bit when cleared with a PC clear, I assume because of the re-heating process? What I am wondering is would it also dull if cleared with a automotive gloss clear paint that does not require heat to cure?

The piece I did looked fine with outomotive clear over it.

It was my understanding that if the part was going to be used outside that it needed to be cleared. I was just wondering if anyone had tried the gloss clear paint and if it dulled the PC.

The parts I did are throttle handles for a boat.

the only problem i had with clear is i got a few little crackes cause i over cooked it
