I know this has been disscussed before, I have read that you can powder coat over powder coating by sanding it then coating over it. I have tried this and the new powder does not stick to the part. I have even used my sand blaster to roughen up the surface and it still wont stick to the part. I find my self having to completely blast the part down to bare metal again to get it to work properly. Any help would be appreciated. Will the powder get and a charge threw the old powder

try a new ground point and re-heat the part, i like to use around 150 .

I have had luck just using the actual first hook through the whole process. Obviously it takes a bit more on a second coat being that it is a 20kv gun.
Once that hook is in a hole, it should be a decent contact point. Good luck! |

I have done it before, I used a friends shop with his progun. First I went over the part with steelwool and also baked it 10min longer than the powder called for.

There shouldnt be much of a problem if the part is reheated again.
Just think of it as a 2 step coating job anyways. like all the base/clears. Shoot it hot and you shouldnt need a good ground. But keep a eye on how much powder you lay on the part. |
