I'm using an IR temp gun with emissivity range from 1.00 to .10. The book has several setting points for various metals. Sheet metal is .52 however, when a piece of sheet metal is placed in boiling water and a reading is triggered, the shown temperature is higher with the gun set at .52. I have to run the range to about .85 before it will read about 212.
My question is, what is everyone else setting their IR temp gun's emissivity to for an accurate temp reading? |
