Cool Blistering??

I am currently coating the hardware from a guys drum kit..... his haedware is chrome and its now satin black....
I preheated the parts and coated... no prob.. but the chrome on the a few of the parts blistered.... has anyone had this problem with chrome stuff... ?
I have done valve covers and air cleaners with no problems.

no, but the hardware you speak of is probably 20 guage or thinner correct? if so then it is probably warping under the heat &/or the integrity of the chrome's adhesion has been compromised.

The drum hardware is most likely potmetal and therefore it will outgas when heated and bubble even the worlds greatest chrome job.

Yep, its outgassing. You need to get outgass forgiving powder to help you and pre heat the **** out of it to a temp of at least 450f for 40mins to help reduce the problem.

No, you will have to remove the chrome first, it's most likely blistered under the chrome, then use the special powders

What about a lower temperature and a longer cure time?
