kchotboat... here is the reply to an email i sent to the NHRA regarding PC'ing a roll cage...

chromoly has a very high carbon content. It would have to be a lot hotter than cure temp to change structural properties.

machone.. my thoughts exactly, if heat effected it, the simple act of welding it would do damage to the properties of the material.
Back to the subject at hand.. i also sent an email to the NHTSA to see if they have any data on this subject.
