Default Color match for cosmoline (cosmolene)

Is there anything that replicates the color of cosmoline ?

I have someone that does restorations and wants to be able to have the same coloring as cosmoline, without the mess.

Ideas?

Cosmolene is a protectant against rust used on automotive parts, machine shop tooling and equipment that will be stored for a unknown or indefinite period of time. Fresh it is almost like a grease. As it ages and dries out, it gets gummy and then hard. It has to be cleaned off with a solvent before the item coated can be used.

Is there anything closer in a RAL color or something to keep from doing a 2 stage process?..

They put cosmoline on jap scrap when they ship it to the US because of the ocean salt. On a quiet day you can hear a Toyota rust....

The dark brass is a candy top coat. Why would you have two stages?

I was thinking that you meant putting it on with a chrome basecoat...

It would be nice to get something that is ready to shoot without having to mix the gloss killer, it would help in the consistency.
