Default Professional gun?

When did you find your limitations to the hobby gun?

I think I am still fine with the hobby gun. Because I am not sure if the benefits would offset the huge price of the professional guns.

What would I get out of the profesional gun?

My biggest grip on the hobby gun is not being able to fit much powder in the cup. When you load it to a certain point... if burps out globs of powder.

Clean up isnt too bad, but I wish it was easier.

Thanks

Wouldnt changing colors be ever more of a pain?

I dont do large parts runs all that often, but when I do, it would be nice to have more powder in the gun.

Humm, good point, didn't think of that.

Up until this week I've only offered black on my products. I have red, blue and clear ordered, thought I would expand a little. (PCing is not main buiness) With limited colors I suppose a guy could set up a "pot" for each color.

My problem is I haven't found a suitable off the shelf product for use as a pot...

you can buy a fluidizer hopper for it .
there is guy that sell some on ebay very cheap

I prefer my nordson over my hobby cuz
I can control the Kv to get to the area I want and not ( thread holes)
I get a lot better finish on translucent colors ( candy)
coats are alot more even
and I feed directly from the powder box I received ( mine is a box feed)
and it's a lot more easier to handle with out the cup on top.

When I started doing more and more. I steped upto a Nordson Sure Coat gun. Box feed vibratory hopper. They also sell litte 5-6lb fuild bed containers.

Theres a guy I know who maked em out of PVC at a fraction of the cost also. he ays they hold 6-7lbs cost is $125

I think stepping up to a professional gun for me... I would hope to achieve a better flow of powder... that is more important to me than the amount of powder in the cup. I will refill it if necessary multiple times, would be nice not to have to, but its not that big of a deal.

I just hate when I have to blow the part off because the gun burped out a glob of powder. Thats a pain in the keister.

Plus with a professional gun you minimize powder waste by at least 50%. I did in my case.
