I'm new to this forum and have successfully powdercoated a few small parts. PC is 1000 times better then painting! I've got some parts that I've sandblasted but can't get small amounts of rust out that is in certain spots because of the angles involved. Will PC adhere to any rust inhibitors/coatings?
Thanks, dmend |

And remember, you can quickly find out if it will stick by using a piece of scrap and coat half of it with your rust inhibitor, then PC it. Nothing worse than having to clean a good part that had a small ammount of PC not stick because of something like the rust inhibitor. |

navel jelly will work, so will 50/50 mix of muratic(hydrochloric acid sold as concrete/pool cleaner) and water. If you want it to be faster, put in a piece of SS sheet or lead, hook the neg side of a battery to it, and the positive side to the part. Keep a close eye on it, it may start removing base metal. Acid can be neutralized with baking soda afterwards.

I tried the Naval Jelly. I must have what is considered very thick rust. After many coats, even an overnight coat, there is rust underneath where I can scrape at it. One thing I don't like about naval jelly is the combination of water and metal... seems counter intuitive.....I did end up with a nice surface coat of rust on most of the piece. Electrolysis, not willing to try that just yet.

At a trade show I saw a product called Evapo-Rust. It looked to work pretty well at the demo. I haven't used any yet but thought it might be worth mentioning.
