powder that cures at 250f

Hey in contact with a company that makes powder that cures at 250f for 30min. of corse you can go to 350f for 15min, but still cures at low temp. I think it would open the door to new powder coating. This is 50-100f lower than the loe temps out there. The thing is it is custome made only large orders. Now if enough people are intrested maybe we can ask Caswell to carry and we buy from them. Or if not maybe I would buy some sell what not used. (I would rather letr Caswell carry it) Let me know of any intrest.

What is the melting point of the stronger plastic that some things are made out of? We could possibly start powder coating plastic with less of a worry of melting it.

Also, it'd be good because people wouldn't need to spend as much money on there large ovens if you only need to get to 250 degrees. Although, I'd still want my oven to reach 500 or so to do ceramic coating.

I think it'd be a good thing to look into for Caswell.

I have worked with plastic that will take the 400f but would like to use lower temps.Would like to know what temop sport bike plastic would take. I am waiting for my cooper powder to come in then I will try to coat some plastic to make it conductive see if it works.

There are powders out there that cure at 150F. It's designed for MDF but can be used on practically anything. Once again, large quantities only. The fine folks at Caswell may want to look at this also.

You're getting powder to powder plastic to make it conductive so you can powder it ??
A friend of mine who's a powder rep for one of the large powder companies was telling me about this "stuff" that is used to make non-conductive items conductive. It comes in the form of a powder and it's mixed with alcohol and sprayed on the part using a hand sprayer (atomizer). Once the alcohol flashes off the part can be powdered as normal.
Maybe Mike or Lance are familiar with this "stuff", might be a good item to add to their line.

Hey who makes the 150f? What I am going to try is spray part with high temp clear and then dust with copper powder. I think it will work. If it works it will not be much more to powder plastic that it is to do metal. Like you said can only get low temp in large orders. would be nice if caswell would get it and sale small amounts.

Good luck with that, I hope it works for you. To be totally honest I don't remember the company name but there are several out there.

couldin't you pre heat the plastic for the low temp powder to stick ?

From what I've read that's what they recommend for MDF, helps adhesion. The MDF has enough mass to it that it would probably hold the heat fairly well. Plastic on the other hand might not hold heat very well.
I think the conductive spray is used for that reason.
