Default part temp. question

does the hanging part need to be at 400 degr. ,im checking it with a dig. thermoneter.my coating is 400 deg coating.what im asking is ,does the part need to match the temp of coating or just the temp in the oven?

gaskincrew,

If you are using powder that cures at 400 degrees. The part that you coated must be at the cure temperature before you start your cure timing.

I would imagine that the part and the powder are going to be the same temperature in the oven. Afterall, how could they be different temps when they are both in the oven?

Not so! The powder coated part is not going to be the same temperature, as the oven, until it reaches the curing temperature after it is put in the oven. Also if you 'hot flock' a part, the powder will not instantly reach the temperature of the part, until it is returned to the oven to cure.
