Default is it me or?

I bought some tropical orange (2lbs "2-1lb cans") and some chrome (2lbs "2-1lb cans") to coat my ATV frame. I coated all the small items first to get used to the powder. I had a few problems with color/coverage so I stripped and re-did the parts using the "other cans" well everything came out fine. So I decided to do the frame. It wouldnt fit in the oven so I take it to have it done. It came out bad.. The powder which is supposed to be a nice bright candy orange looks more like a copper color and has fisheyes in it. The shop that shot and cooked the frame said that the chrome came out awesome. But after applying the orange and re-baking it turned out ugly. Is it possible that my powder was bad since this happened to myself and another PC shop?

gold , orange, yellow , brass and some coopers almost never reach the desired colors unless used over real chrome or polish surfaces
if they are used over chrome powder they loose it's colors deeps
for the spots in the pictures that is a coating problem noting to do with the color
it could have been a Ground problem.

Thanks for the reply but after talking with someone from caswell on the phone I found out that the chrome needed to bake longer than what was called for. Since it didnt the orange and chrome tried to blend together creating this color. They are sending me some replacement powder. As for the colors mentioned above I think your partially wrong. I have had many colors come out perfect. Maybe its luck on my part..

The chrome & pretty much all metallic colors scratch really easily. if you look in the catalog, it says "should be used with clearcoat" I clear pretty much everything, it doesn't show scratches barely at all.

It does take away some of the reflectivity, there's no getting around that. There is "another" manufacturer that sells Single Stage Reflective Chrome, doesn't need a clear coat, so it stays reflective.
No, I don't normally use a primer unless the part is continuously out in the weather. Most of what I do is Custom cars, hot rods, bikes, sleds. Most of them are stored indoors.

If you are coating something like a picture frame, or something that is indoors, do you still need to clear coat over the chrome? I thought I also read somewhere that the chrome will rust if it is not clear coated?

Plated chrome can rust, Powder chrome oxidizes and looses its shine. On something that will be indoors, you can get away without clearing it. Temperature fluctuation and humidity levels will directly effect how fast it will oxidize. You could probably do fine with a good coat of wax to fix that problem.
