machone will become famous soon enough

Chrome, as with all metallic colors, will scratch very easily. "another" manufacturer sells what is called single stage reflective chrome that doesn't need a clearcoat. Maybe caswell can start selling this? (wink wink)

Machone,
All of the Chrome powders need a Clear coat to help protect them from UV rays. If the powder is to be used inside then no clear is needed.
Now as for this 1 step chrome, they are all 1 step chrome unless you are using this outside. Please tell me whom you are buying this thru and I will prove to you it is not UV Rated. There are only a few Powder Manufactoring Companys and they all need a clear coat.. Been doing this way to long..

Hey Jim!
I was under the impression the clear was to prevent scratches, as the chrome itself will scratch easy. Didn't even think about the UV problems.
The powder is ******** single stage reflective chrome. I'll take a closer look at the specs too.
Didn't mean to give false info, maybe I should put a disclaimer at the end of my answers! LOL
Thanks for the heads up!
Tom

P.S. This is why I buy almost all my powders from you guys!

******** Single Stage Reflective Chrome Powder - Does not require a clear topcoat yet produces a durable, glossy, near-chrome appearance without tarnishing. Polyurethane formulation. Cure at 400ºF for 15 minutes after flow-out occurs. Finished gloss is between traditional Reflective Chrome Powder and Reflective Chrome with clear coat.

Both Caswells Super Chrome and Near Chrome are a Polyurethane and they all need a Clear coat to protect the shine from UV-rays. Call the supplier and they will tell you the same. If you use the Chrome inside you do not need a clear coat.. Not trying to stir things here but I know what I have been told by other suppliers and all need a clear coat to be used outside..
