Default Taking apart an alternator to PC

I would like to powder coat an alternator I have. It's a Nippon Denso alternator that is out of a 89 Dodge. I think they also put these in some foreign cars. Anyway, i can't seem to take the outer windings out of the housing. They seem to be pressed in there. Anyone know how to get them out so i can PC?
thanks
Joe

Would that 89 dodge happen to be a Shelby CSX-VNT? I just picked up this 87 Shelby CSX.

Unfortunately I can't answer your question as i'm still noob, but hopefully someone with experience can help. Post the make and model number of the alternator and i'll ask around on the turbo dodge forums to see if anyone has dissambled one. Or you can ask around on www.turbododge.com and www.turbo-mopar.com

It's not a Shelby CSX, wish it was. It's just a regular 2.2 in an Omni. I do have a T2 waiting to go in though. I'll have to find out the part #.
thanks,
Joe

What state do you live in? I'm in california. My buddy has an 85 Omni that has a 2.5L, T3/4 hybrid, 568 trans, etc. He runs 25 Lbs of boost and is getting probably around 380ish HP and over 400 ft lbs of torque.

We just went to the "Mopars at the Strip" event in Las Vegas. We drove in his Omni from california loaded up with stuff, made 26 miles per gallon, got to Vegas and swapped out the slicks, proceeded to dominate, won a few prizes, then drove back home. You can watch a video that I have on my site, videos section. He ran 11.90's @ 115mph with an omni which has everything that still works (a/c, heater, cruise, etc.).

Well, good luck with your car. Time for me to get mine in the air (i'm hearing a noise that sounds like a loose k-member grrr).

Jimmy

I'm in CT. I can't belive what some of these Omni's are running. I had converted my old Omni to a T1 with some light mods. It ran a 15.X quarter mile and I thought that was fast. I lost the car to rust and now have a super clean 89 Omni from down south. It's waiting for the T2. I can't imagine your friends car with that kind of power. Even 150 HP moves the 2200 lbs car around pretty well.
I had the loose K member problem on my old Omni, no fun, good luck.
