Lightbulb Rust removal by electrolysis

We discovered this process yesterday and although I am sure there are some of you that have seen or experienced it already, I though I would post about it for all the other. Use at your own risk! Results vary, yadda, yadda, yadda....
Here's the link
http://antique-engines.com/electrol.asp
We bought a nice 40 gal Tupperware garbage can and did everything on that web page....3 hours into it, there is a layer of scum rust already 1/2" thick on the top.
We are stripping 1 of those old time reproduction mail boxes made of cast steel (never painted) that was so very rusty, the customer decided he had to take it down. I saw him dismantling it as I drove down the street and stopped to talk to him. Talk about timing!!
After a couple minutes, he had it loaded in my truck and I had a signed work order to strip and PC it!
Back to the rust removal.....I can't wait to see this thing tomorrow after about 30 hours or so of dip time! Remember dip> turpintine, benzene and acetone, LOL.
If I can ever figure out how to post pics here, I wil take a couple after shots and show you how well this works.
I really didn't look forward to donning the head gear and sandblasting this thing, yuch!!!!!!!
Anyways, check it out, it's oh so simple to do and totally environmentally safe as far as I have read!

Yeah, that site is cool. Have you seen the large pool sized project they did? http://antique-engines.com/trailer-electrolysis.htm

Hope it turns out well for you! Just curious as to how much $ you'll be making off this job Please post some pics of your project/job. I would love to see how it comes out!

Johnny:

Electrolysis is awesome! I've been doing larger parts that way for a few years.

Beware though. Freshly derusted parts are raw, and will flash rust very quickly. You need to plate/paint/coat them somehow as soon as they're done.

I usually iron phosphate parts to be PCd, or go straight to the plating tank with them.
