anodized aluminum tip...
guys i got a tip that i use for doing aluminum parts that are anodized. A lot of searches turned up q's on how to get anodized layers off. I use my anodizing chemicals. I use a lye solution of 16oz. lye (red devil or draino found at walmart or lowes) poured into a five galllon bucket with three gallons of distilled water. Let part soak for 5-30 min. Rinse. Then its over to the deox desmut tank. After the deox/desmut tank I rinse and repolish it. I do a few sport bike brackets, so i use a plastic storage bin of 20 qt. from the house section at walmart. I mix up a 2 gal desmut mix. dip the part for 5 min at room temp. Then get an anodizing cleaner. PM if you would like to know where to get my chemicals. I heat the solution to 140 you could do this in a microwave. Dip the part let sit for 5 min. Pull out, let air dry, and powder. No contaminates so far and the finishes are turning out great with the clears and solids. I still can't get the knack of the candies. I have done one pulley 4 times with horrible results. I hope this helps and contributes something to the board. I am not saying this is how you have to do it either. This is just a way that i found that worked for me. Thanks to the guys here for their help.
