Default CFM (100 per foot) in spray booth?

OK, searched, and came up with the magic number of 100cfm per foot of opening when designing a spray booth. I just happen to have an old blower that is rated at 250cfm. The question here is this.....WHAT is considered the "opening"?

a) Where the filter is (say, 10"x20"=120", just under 1 square foot)

OR

b) is it the actual opening of the front of the booth itself?

Just want to know if what I have is enough or if I need to do some more scrounging.

Thanks!

The opening they are referring to is the opening the fan is drawing from or the filter opening.

I think you want the square foot of opening of the booth.. as in the big open area you stand and spray. Just like a garage door opening, the area of the door.
TO keep the dust confined you need about 100FPM per square foot of opening, that is 100 CFM.
If you're limited on fan you can always make some sliding or hinged panels to close it off.

Popeye is right. When I answered I had a paint/body mindset and was thinkng of an enclosed paint booth.
