Hello everyone, my first post! I recently purchased the Caswell PC kit, and could not be happier. Quality and results have been first rate.
However, I am new to this, and have searched and search, but could not find the answer. I am looking to powdercoat the Valve cover on my 2003 Honda s2000. I believe it is aluminum. I would like to coat with with silver vein and then top it off with candy red (or lollipop red).... How do I do this? Will the second powder stick to the first? If someone can post a little instruction on temps, times, cures, etc...I would really appreciate it. Thanks again everyone! _-Dave |

aluminum is like a sponge to oil... ya gotta get it all out... if your not sure.. pre-bake it again....

Wow....thanks for the help....
Just a few followup questions..... With regards to a valvecover..... I strip it.... bake it for about 45-1 hour at 450 to let it outgas. Then, do I let it cool fully, or start to coat while its hot, warm, cool, etc...? I will be trying this first on an intake pipe. Its made of very thin aluminum (you know how thin those things are)....I am afraid by the time I take the vein coat out of the oven, and bring it over to the spray station, it will cool...Does the fact that its not very hot really matter? Also, back to the valve cover....when applying the candy coat, do I just shoot over the cover while its hot, and let the heat do the bonding, or should I ground it again? |

then let cool and clean again but let air dry. blow off with clean air and shoot the silver vein. put in oven and fully cure.
The intake will cool, but you can still do it. Try to get a smooth even coverage and it should be ok. I run into that alot with tin valvecovers. They do cool faster, but you can work with it. as for Applying the candy, ground and shoot hot.
