Default Questions on Cure time.

Questions on Cure time.

It is my understanding that cure time starts when the object you have powder coated is at the cure temperature??

If I am curing an automotive rim/wheel and it takes 25 minutes for it to come up to temperature, do I then go another 20 minutes to cure the powder coat (per the instructions on the can)?

This is a pretty good size oven, the temperature in the oven never varies from 400 degrees F. It is also a convection oven (fan inside).

I have never done this before, I have read several books. The oven is ready to go, I have the Caswell 50 KV gun. I will be using it in a paint spray booth.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, the cure time on the can starts when the part being coated reaches the cure temp. Tins will get to temp fast while intakes and other parts with bulk will take awhile. That's the reason for slow ramping the temp on thin walled part to get a better flow.
