I was initially going to get a piece of 1x1 steel tubing and make it to hang off of my 1x1 square rack with a piece of 1x1 steel welded to it sticking out to hold the rim suspended.

I used to use steel braided line and now I use a small chain which I just wrap around the rim and attach the chain bach to itself. Put a hook through the other end of the chain and hang the rim up.

i have a 6in bolt and washers( the ones with a eye hole in one end) that i put thru the air valve hole. then i can hang it on a 4ft rack piece in my spray booth and carry the whole thing to the oven to hang in there with out touching the wheel. i have used this method a number of times and it works great. hook the eye to a swivel hook like they sell here and u can spin the wheel effortlessly to shoot all the way around it.

Do you coat the area where the chain hangs ?

if u get a nut that fits inside the recess of the hole the air stem hides where the powder didn't cover from the nut.
