Tape problem??? - Plating Powder Coating Buffing Anodizing

Hi, Powder coating some VCs and taping all the letters... and this seems to happen with the metalic powders. Why?

I was thinking residew from the tape?

Is there any way around this? Thanks guys in advance

I'm assuming you are doing silver first than red? I'd find it easier to do the red first(just enough to cover all you letters, bake,then spray the whole thing in silver. As long as the piece isnt hot when you spray it you can take your finger, a sponge or a wet rag and wipe the silver off the letter revealing them. To me that easier than trying to cut out all those letters and you dont even mess with tape.

I've never seen any residue left from Caswells tape on any powder.
