Default Mickey Thompson Valve Covers

I was looking at M/T valve covers coated by Corecoatings in the pictures section. I have a pair that I want to coat and have a few questions.

Corecoatings, if you are around, how did you mask the ribs and lettering? A friend suggested sanding off the coating, but my ribs are rounded on top, not flat, and I want them to stay round. The large flat area looks good shiny. Did you polish the ribs and the flat section so it would contrast with the black chrome coating?

You can just use your finger and remove it from lettering and ribs. I do believe I might have sanded those off for some reason, then polished
