Question tribo & corona charging?? please help

hello guys i have been contemplating buying a Vol-Tec powder coating gun set. the description reads as follows " This gun has been used only a few times. Its condition reflects that. Its tribo & corona charging, the gun is set up for TRIBO. and would require another hand gun for corona charging.
Box feed so can dispense from the original box."
i have looked up Tribo and Corona charging, but i am still non of the wiser...please advise, it isn't selling expensive and i have about 3 days left on Ebay b4 it goes.i know there are alot of gun kits out there in the UK,some expensive some cheap, but i need to weigh up the pro's and con's of starting off....practice makes perfect.
thanks once again for any help provided.
cheers
Grommit

Electrostatic Spray (Corona) Method - the induction of powder particles exposed to an electrostatic field generated by a high voltage device.

Triboelectric Spray Method - powder particles receive an electric charge through the use of frictional contact with a nonconductive material.

It's my understanding that it's easier to spray metallic powders using the Tribo method. I've never used Tribo, so I really can't help you much.
One thing I do know is that if you are using the Tribo Method you must specify Tribo powder when ordering.
Using the Corona Method it doesn't matter. You can spray Tribo powder using the Corona method.

I had the same Q when i was getting my first nordson gun
I'll tell you what i was told

tribo guns charges the powder better but it coats at half the speed of the corona and you can only use epoxy powders or tribo treated powder .

so I bought a corona and i have never had any problems and i shot any powder with it .
the only draw back i have seen is that metallic powders wear out the resistor on my gun so i just keep a spare around .

also try to get a gun that you can get replacement parts easily

The corona gun will be a bit expensive to add to the setup. That is the reason it is going cheap. The guns have the voltage multiplier built in them and that is the real expense for the corona upgrade. My advice would be to check with the manufacturer to see how much the corona gun will be.

for nordson guns
a multiplier is about $1000
a resistor can be bought as a generic replacement for about $60
and a cable rebuild kit for about $80 and you need to send your cable in
