I have only powdered a few times before. This time I used a chrome powder, totally cured it, pulled the piece and waited till the temp got to 180 and then tried to powder it. The candy powder just shot right off of it and would not coat. I checked the ground by getting too close and it sparked. The gun I used does not have a voltage adjustment.
Was the chrome base coat too thick? I put the piece back in and got it to flow temp of 200 and then tried to powder it again, it worked a little better but still bounced off or passed by the piece not sticking. What am I doing wrong? |

200 deg for the second coat it will never bounce off
it will melt instantly in fact you need to be carefull not to add to much so doubt you shoot at 200 150 is the perfect temp for secound coats if at cold temp the powder is not sticking you either have a bad ground point or you combination of air and powder is way off if you have too much air and you will just blow powder past the part if you have more powder than air the gun will shot clumps of powder wich will lead to over build = orange peel and runs |
