Question About coating an Intake Manifold ???

As posted the other day, I powder coated an intake manifold, and the results were acceptable. My question: when I was checking the temp of the intake, for flow out, I was getting several readings from it. If I checked it toward the center, it read high. If I checked it toward the front or back, it read lower. One area read higher then 392 deg (403) and others read around 350-380. How am I supposed to know when flow out has happened? A bit confusing. Should I have waited on the lower temps to reach 392 or go with the higher reading?

I kind of take an average. If the lower temps are alot colder, then wait till they get closer. MOst powders ahve areally good overbake, up t a Hr for some powders. SO, the areas that reach cure temp first are not going to overcure by the time the other areas cure. Most powders start flowing at 360F as well, curing at 380. Lower cure temps, just mean longer cure times.

Odball thickness parts like manifods I allways find easier to preheat them as well. the part re-heats a little more evenly it seems

That's pretty much what I did. Just tried to average the temps. Just wondered if I was screwing up or not.
Thanks!
