Default Candy Gold over XTreme Chrome Pictures

I am not so happy with how it came out. The gold was hard to stick and would stick fine, but would then start to repel itself from the valve cover (which was outgassed and bead blasted perfectly).

I sprayed it with the Xtreme chrome fully cured and cooled to room temp, and then fully cured the gold again.

I love the effect it had on most parts, but because I sprayed the areas that repelled more than the rest, it has some darker spots.

So now I am wondering what to do. Should I do my other valve cover in a different color like a metallic bronze or something, or better yet:

Can I spray the candy gold top coat RIGHT ON the bead blasted aluminum? It has a "brilliant silver" finish before coating it chrome (which by the way looked great... the xtreme chrome) so maybe I could get away with just "top coating" the raw aluminum with gold?

gold is pretty tricky and hard to get a prefect finish specialy over chrome base powders most times take 2-3 coats to get a good finish
but that looks good
I say it won't get much better than what you have now

you can use it over blasted aluminum but it will come out a dark mustard finish and with no reflection , best powder base i have used yet is super chrome for gold.

real chrome and polish aluminum are the best wat to go with gold .

Here is an updated pic with the part in the car - looks way better than when under direct artificial light.

It does look good in there.
Now you have to get a cover for the turbo.

Looks great with the green paint. Is that a Jaguar? If so I didn't know they were turboed.

I'm gonna say BMW, not factory turboed. Looks great on the car.

Correct its a BMW 5 series with a Holset HX40 truck turbo. It does look so much better in the car than on the table. You can tell how crappy the original casting was though!
