Default Powdercoating cylinder heads

Do they need to be disassembled or can I do them fully assembled? I have a set I want to do for one of my cars, but they are assembled already.

I would. I know they get hot but remember (we are talking about heads off of a car engine) water and oil keep things cool so to be sure not to cook the valve seals, maybe warp anything, or do any damage to the springs I would take the time to take them apart...................and charge accordingly for your time.

car or motorcycle .i tell my customer that all parts they bring me MUST be taken apart by them first ,i run a polishing and powdercoating business not a repair shop .
all my parts are glassbeaded before paint and i don t wannt any dust , dirt or glassbeads stuck inside the head , alsi don t want to beresponsable for ruining a set of valve seal

Ya, I tell my customers that as well. They must be disassembled. I can dissasemble and reassemble for them, as I do mechanical repairs as wel, but that is added to the cost. Same with blocks, Complete tear down. Best time is AFTER machining, but before assembley. No cam bearings, no nothing installed in the block. Heads can have seats and guides installed, but that's it.

Personaly never done Alum heads, but they won't warp either. When you PC, you heat up the item evenly. With no clamping stresses like when a head is bolted down to a block. And the temp variance in a head when on the engine, from water jacket to cyl surface is extreme, far more than PC temps, so they will be just fine to coat.

Ah well, guess I'll tear them down to do them. Figured that would be the case.
