I built mine last year and powder coated it. Inside is dead matte black, outside is graphite metallic texture. The blue trim was done with liquid (doh!)
I took the main pieces apart (sides top and bottom, not any of the pop rivets) and Faraday cage effect wasn't a big deal. The hardest part was actually stripping the anodized layer and cutting the windows.
