Default New items for powder coat questions

Just received this and the Spindles and Tubular A-Arms yesterday. These are new items and very bare. I have read (I think) to start this project, that these bare metal parts should be sand blasted. And then I've read where they just need cleaned real good and then powder coat. Where do I need to start? Sand blast or not? And what would the going rate for this item be, approximately?

Also wants the other parts done with chrome
Thanks!

I think you should always prep parts, new or not.
Especially if they are for a customer.

i just made the mistake of not blasting an aluminum intake pipe. Degreased it really well, prebaked but still got fish eyes. Now I'm having to blast off powder coat to do it over again.

Coating it Bare willwork fine, but the Powder adhesion will not be the best. Ever wonder why stock parts that have been powdercaoted sometimes flake the powder off in large sheets over time? Because they don't sandblast first. I have done alot of new metal list bare. I usualy scuff with scotchbrite pad, degrease, prebake and shoot. But it's stuff like Lawn furniture etc. Stuff that is not that important, and the customer doesn't want to pay the whole pretreatment. Car unndercarrage/suspension parts ALLWAYS get blasted here. THey take alot of abuse from road grime etc.

This more than likely had to do with not outgassing enough first, before spraying. Fisheyes are usualy caused by oil in the substrate. Blasting will not remove oils in the substrate. Best is to Pre-bake/outgass EVERYTHING. Then your sure. A little oven time is alot cheaper than blasting and starting over. Trust me
I have acctually coated some test pieces out of some rusty, scaly steel. No prep other than wire brush by hand. They acctually turned out supprisingly well, considering the lack of prep. BUt, I wouldn't do that to a customers. I was just testing to see what I could get away with.

I've pretty well decided to have it blasted. At the present time I can not do it with my current cabinet. But did find a guy who will do it for $25.00. Price sounds good, so will probably drop it off Monday.

The smaller parts, I will do my self.
Thanks, for the input guys.
