Default Motorcycle Rims Need Powder Coating

In the Copy Chrome forum I started a thread asking for help on a copy Chrome job. This is turning out to be more expensive them I thought. Now I have another question.

I am in the process of restoring a vintage British motorcycle. The wheels are in bad shape. I was going to have them rechromed of Copy Chromed but now I am looking at the posibility of having them powder coated.

They are about 20" outside dia. and 3 - 4" wide.

Will the pc stand up to the mounting and dismounting of the tires?

What prep would need to be done to the wheels first?

Is there anyone on this forum interested in doing them?

I live in a rural area and the closest pc shop is about 60 miles away. I saw one job they did and was not impressed. The powder coat was soft and it was scratched by a cloth while applying a wax finish. Anyway I don't think I want to take the rims to them.

Any help or information will be greatly appreciated.

What prep would need to be done to the wheels first? What material? Most likely aluminum (polished?). Spokes? Probably would need to be unlaced. Bearings need to be removed, rim cleaned and degreased. Scuffed with a scothbrite or possibly light blasting. Got pics (it's easier to tell if you can see them). Single color or more?

Look here: http://www.customcoaters.com/
Page down and click on your state, there may be more coaters in the area than you realize.

The Material is steel, and rusty. One wheel is laced one is not.

For pictures see this link.
Copy Chrome Needed

Color will be black I think
