Default Having Problems with my caswell gun, Defective?

I have an inline regulator but I noticed that my gun is leaking sometimes from the screw on the bottom and trying to set the PSI with the bottom screw it does not stay constant.

I already need to clean the gun because of sticky trigger.

I also noticed that the wire to the gun was a bit seperated and frayed.

Do you guys think I got a defective unit?

I like the adjustable MKV control. But this issue with controlling the PSI Is really getting to me.

What kind of PSI are you putting to the gun? You might try putting about 35-40 PSI to the gun and adjust the output pressure from there.

It would be hard not to be adjusting the gun from time to time while spraying. As the powder level changes the PSI will probably need adjusting. I don't think it's a defect of the gun, just the nature of the beast. Small changes in PSI are a lot more noticeable at lower air pressures. I'm running a fluidizing hopper with a powder pump and spraying at about 5PSI... adjusting the pressure as the pressure drops in the compressor tank is a constant.

Hope that helps

Yes It does actually.

I am doing it on the fly as well and was not sure if that was proper.

Its a large tank so the drop in pressure takes quite a while.

I set my regulator to about 10 psi and then use my hands to rotate the dial as I spray.

I didnt know about the powder level going down the psi adjusts, this makes sense to me as well.

Thank you.

Thumbs up Re: Having Problems with my caswell gun, Defective?

At first, I didn't care for it. I just couldn't get it to work, as good as my EW gun But as time went by and I continued to mess with it, I actually learned how to use it. Found the air adjustment screw in the bottom of the handle. Imagine that, somebody put an adjustment in the bottom of the handle! Also found out to NOT fill the jar full of powder. I do feel like it waste powder more then the EW gun, but then it might just be me. But I have been using it more and more.

that was my other concern that I felt like it wasted allot of powder, if you tilt the barrel down out comes quite a bit. im tempted to catch the barrel loaded powder and reuse that.

It's almost like an oil leak.. a little bit looks like a lot.
Any gun builds up powder in the barrel, I always point it down and tap it before I start spraying. And if I've been spraying level quite a while and need to spray down.. I'll do the above again. Once again, it's the nature of the beast.
I bought an EW gun a while ago, sent it back the same day.
