Just curious, those cogged pullies look nice, but are those timming pully gears that will behind a cover?
Looks almost like a 4cyl ford engine I had apart recently, that large bottom gear would be the oil pump drive? |

Ya, light colors all vary shades depending on the base color. When doing multiple metals, in same color, best to start with a base color fro all. Just a heads up, White, lightenes color, makes them brighter. Silver makes them neutral, and Black, obviously darkens.

They are timing pullys. Normally they would be under a cover, but the cover now will only cover the bottom half of the motor. Of course I didn't realize any of this until after I did the work! Obviously it's not a Ford motor, hence the VW symbol. It's a 1.8L for my Corrado G60. And the large lower gear is the oil pump, yes. |

Stock, it's an 8v, the G60 is a 1.8L supercharged motor. You're close! There are people who have converted these to 16v. But I don't have the money or know how to do so. |

Well it happened again.
This time I coated my intake for the motor. Also made of cast aluminum. I did two layers of solar flat black, then the metallic grey. And it comes out of the oven silver. I was ****ed to say the least. Three coats of powder on this part are going to be a PITA to remove. I'm not even sure if it's completely possible due to all the crevices and stuff. So the only difference between this one and the valve cover, was that the valve cover got 2 coats fo solar flat black, then colbalt blue, then the grey. Perhaps it's the blue that did it? I was too ****ed to take pictures. |

You need to take a picture of the valve cover and intake together, but I think I can see Blue in the valvecover, reflecting through the grey.

Very interesting.
I am going to guess it's more of a reflection of the light on the valve cover than the blue showing through, only because I don't think I notice that in person. But I will take a picture of the two together. And I'll look again at the valve cover and see if the blue is showing through. |
