I'm in the middle of a custom bike build and would really like to powder coat the entire bike. The only problem is the tins (fenders, tank, etc.) are not in perfect shape. I was wondering if anyone had tried applying a coat but not curing the powder completely, then sanding between coats?
I suppose I could buy one of the leading kits that can be powder coated, but they are a little pricey. I'm fully capable of shooting your standard automotive paint, but I've really grown to dislike the process now that I'm powder coating. Has anyone tried this process? |

what shape r the fenders in? are they just dented, rusty or what? yes u can sand a coat & use it as a base. it is a common practice. u should allow it to cure fully though.

I really didn't know it was a standard pratice. Everything is in pretty good shape, no dings and such. But hand made parts do need a good primer base for sanding... I'll take your advice and do the full cure, thanks. |
