Question Gun Voltage Setting?

how do you know what votage on the gun to use for what powder or part being coated?

i have the Caswell 50kv

practice , best i can tell you is that low voltage is for deep areas and high voltage is for flat areas

with time and practice you'll know when is to high and when is to low .

yes . & higher voltages for second or multiple coats.

I dont use 50KV too much.

too much clumping on parts sometimes because of how conductive certain areas are or something.


I do it on the fly, but most of the time I like 40KV all around.

My gun goes up to 85 kv which I use to powder steel parts. Reduce voltage for Aluminum, Faraday Cage areas and second coats.
Here's a good trouble shooting guide that will help you determine what to do under certain circumstances.

my gun goes to 100 kv but most the time i use 70 kv and lower to 30 or 40 for double or multiple layers and on problem parts like hd cylinder heads sometimes i lower the voltage to 20 kv
