I took mine completely apart for the first time the other day. I've had it for about a year and a half. I always just blow the powder out, never have previous powder get in the new.

Where does this piece go? Mine slides up and down the tube! Should it be near the end of the barrel or closer to the trigger end?

When I took mine apart it was setting clear in the back, with the three little pointed pins toward the open end of the gun.

Question Re: My Caswell gun Mods

How does the Caswell gun differ from Harbor Freight? They look the same to me. The charge piece with 3 pins is located near the diffuser on my HF guns. Thanks

Further up in the post, it was stated that the difference in the two guns ie., CW & HF is the CW power supply. I'm assuming it is better then HF.

Your Mods are interesting, but I just bought my CW 50KV gun and don't want to void the warranty. I do have a problem and maybe you can help. When I pull the trigger for the first time no powder comes out and I have to shake the gun constantly while applying the power to the part. While constantly shaking the gun powder comes out in spurts and then no powder and spurts again and so forth. Honesty it is pain and I'm not talking about a little shake I have to shake the SH_T out of it. I have followed all the setup steps in the manual nothing helped. I did do a little troubleshooting with the gun to understand the inter workings. I believe that the curved tube is the pickup and there should be a slight vacuum here. As far as the supply air tube I see the small hole in it, although I believe that it was installed to deep because I only see about one third of about an 1/8" hole. On top of that there is no air coming out.

Please help if you can. I'm going to call CW Monday and see what they say

Thanks, Jamie

Correct. The pickup tube is the curved one. The fludizer is the stubby chrome one with the one hole in it. And yes, they are partly hidden. When you call, ask the tech if it would void the warranty. If I remember right, the time I called, he had said that that is a problem. A 1/8 hole is to large, so when you decide to do the mod, get the hole size like the one there.

The shaking that you do, is because the powder needs to be fludized and that is the only way you can, until the mods are made or turn up the air. And even then, you need to do some. Turn up your air a little at a time until the powder comes out good (the sweet spot) and don't forget the knob on the end of the handle. It will also control the air to the powder. The gun is a good gun for the money, you just have to keep messing with it till you learn the way it works. I waited until the warranty was up to modify mine too. Should have done it sooner. Oh well.
