Thanks for the info. What if I'm not getting any air out of the fluidizer? I'm thinking the fluidizer brings air into the cup pressurizing the cup in turn blowing the powder around (fluidizing/making it lighter) then the vacuum tube picks it up like a mist and disperses it through the tube.

That's pretty much how it works. With the one hole I don't think you will see much movement, I can't remember. But I think you need to open the screw in the bottom of the handle to aid that. It's a learning game. You gotta learn what the gun wants. Just keep playing with it. Also, on the bottom of the barrel, there is a plastic plug affair, loosen that up and adjust it in or out and see what that brings. That helps powder flow as well.

Good luck, hope this helps.

FYI, I found the root cause of the problem. I decided to take the fluidizer tube out and what I found was that the hole was completly blocked with the assembly glue that was holding it into the gun. I punched a hole in the glue and gun is working alot better.

Great! Good to hear. I would have never guessed that, unless it was me having the problem. I would then have taken the gun clear apart. Now that it spraying, just take a little time to learn what the gun is looking for to give you a good spray. It works kind of like a woman. Don't know why they have their own little quirks, but it takes time and patients, but when we do learn them, we got em right where we want them and get them to do the things we want them to do when we want....

Okay Cheap
I just ordered the tip for the Caswell gun. Probably won't be here till around Tuesday or Wednesday. So I will see. It does interest me though. So save your money, I took the plunge.

Default Re: My Caswell gun Mods & Columbia Nozzle

The Columbia Hobby Nozzle arrived here yesterday. Got a chance to play with it a bit yesterday and today. Yesterday was mostly getting it to fit the Caswell gun and EW gun. I found that it was a little bit small. I'm assuming that the HF gun has a smaller barrel, like thousandths smaller. I had to take 400 sandpaper to it, so it would fit on the barrel. It has a O-ring on the inside of it to make it fit tight.

After getting that done, the next day (today) I put just a small amount of powder in the cup to give it a whirl. At this point, I'm at 50/50 on it. First off, I liked the spray pattern. It took a bit more air to the gun (still playing with that) But it didn't want to stick the powder. Not a problem I've had with this gun at all. I also backed away from the part farther then I ever have. It gets there in fine shape. Just took a long time for it to cover the part.

Also, I want to find out the significance of the ring and it's position on the nozzle. It, by the way, is plastic, I think. It's not metal like I thought it was. So, more testing in order. Will update any new findings in a different thread. AND make sure you take your foot off the pedal BEFORE you mess with the ring. It carries quite a jolt!!

I tried out the new attachment on a mail box I had to do. The powder would not stick in the inside corners. I went back to tipless and was able to get in the corners. The attachment seems to work well on flat areas as it gives out a nice even cloud. I will have to try it out on more complex parts.
