PC Rifle or Shotgun Barrel?

anyone ever powder coat a rifle or shotgun barrel ?

I personally have not done one, but have heard of others doing it.

i have done only one. it was a pistol barrell in flat black...turned out REAL good.

As long as it will go back together with the close tolerances that the receiver has!

plug up the inside...and let them know the barrel can't take extreme rapid fire.

the one I did was a daranger...so it's a single shot and wont do rapid fire

I never powder coated a gun, but I use allot of them sometimes.

Depending on the gun and what is meant by "Rapid Fire" I dought that is a problem either. Although most of my larger guns have been bolt action or level action I have never got one hot enough to burn my hands and I have fired them off pretty fast in competion with friends. Who can fire off 2 or 3 full clips the fastest with the most bullseyes and stuff like that.

As for an 18 shot semi auto 22 rifle, I have rapid fired over 100 rounds fast as I could pull the trigger and reload it to fire again, still not hot enough to burn me though getting pretty warm.

Don't coat the inside of the barrel at all of course, make sure it is plugged well.
Don't coat any moving parts nor the firing pin or any slides. Basically stay on the outside of the gun and mask off any parts that move like a bolt well for the areas that make contact when moving.
Coating the gun should be ok provided you don't coat any parts that could cause it to jam or miss fire!

Still, I am not sure how much a full auto could handle. If only coating the outside of a gun at what tempature does the powder fail? Does a full auto barrel really get that hot?

get practical, im talking single shot semi auto at best

forget full auto, there arnt many places in the US to shoot full auto and the license is very hard to get.
