Default Learn by doing or learn by reading?

Thanks guys for all the great posts, all the help others have asked about etc... And thanks Caswell for the forum.

Some people learn by DOING, Some learn by reading, I learn by both.

I had problems and was not able to buy my coating system yet, could not make the long trip to buy them when on sale for $50 that weekend I posted on here.
Awhile back I found a person that had just bought a system but could not do anything with it. I mean everything he tried was just a nasty mess! I saw his attemps and they were a mess!

I asked if I could give it a try, he said sure. My parts came out great, though I was doing parts for him. Bad cleaners, grabing parts with bare hands, if it's a no no he was doing it. Now he knows better and is doing some good parts.
We both thank all you great people with the great posts with great info.

When I shot the parts and they came out perfect he asked how long I was shooting PC myself. I just said, "not long". I did not want to tell him those were my first parts ever, LOL

How did I learn to coat without a system? By reading all the great posts here.
I have done lots of fancy paint jobs in the past, so getting used to the different type gun was the main thing for me really. Of course I already knew never grab a part with oily hands just from normal painting, and some other things also.

He now does PC better himself after the pointers I gave him, and I read them here! I gave him Caswells link of course so maybe a new member soon, but he said he don't do much online with computers other than e-mails and some buying on e-bay. He was amazed when I told him the colors available at Caswell so I expect he will be buying here. All he had was the basics black red and yellow powders. I did a quick part in black and yellow 2 tone for him also.

Tomorrow I should be coming home with 2 PC systems of my own! I will either be posting pics next week or more questions. LOL

Thanks for all the great posts and Thanks Caswell for the great forum!
I'll be ordering powders and other supplies online from Caswell next week, though the guns I get as a manager special almost nearby. 2 systems for $100, I asked and I received. Now to drive that long trip to pick them up, yuck 4am! But I need lathe tools at Grizzley also, same trip.
