I had to get mine up to 900 just to start burning off two layers of powder. But be prepared it creates a lot of smoke.

I am still learning about removing.

but is it better to burn it off rather than use a good stripper?

I just did a piece yesterday, that didn't turn out like I wanted, so this morning I used Permatex Gasket Stripper and it cut through three coats pretty fast. had to do a second application, but it didn't take very long for it to work. Rather do it that way as opposed to burning off.

i put it in the oven and turned it up and leterip.

i built the thing with recycled materials (old kitchen oven guts)and the temp dial is thermostat with contact built in.wired through a 6o amp contactor to power the elements.

so i turned it up passed the 600 degree mark.ive tested it with a multi meter that registers temp before and got 700 degrees. this time i just turned her up.

after about an hr at that high temp.the powder started to bubble up in places.and the smoke coming off it was heavy.

after about three /four hrs the smoke stopped and the pc was burned to a crisp.

most came off with a wire brush.the rest came off with a wire wheel on my buffer motor.

it may have cost me some in electricity but the effort and aggravation was greatly reduced and no stripper mess to deal with

granted i really dont know how hot it was .i just know IT WORKED!!!

If I have just a few pieces that need burned off I use my torches to burn it off with a light flame. I works pretty quick and a lot less smoke. Just be careful on aluminum and dont focus on any one spot too long keep moving and come back if necessary.
