Default Minimal temp to cure?

I want to do my engine block and head, but some people have expressed concern at 400F (I think this is silly, but I am not experienced). I am going to use a silver single stage powder that we have at the shop, and I was wondering what the lowest cure temperature I could use is - I was thinking I could do it at like 300F for like 1 hr instead of 400 for 30 mins. Something along those lines.

Anyone have any input? Or, should I just cure it normal. The cylinder head is a 6 cyl inline of aluminum, the block is a 6 cyl inline of cast iron.

My .02, I would cure the block at normal cure temps (whatever the powder manufacturer recomendations). I don't think I would do the heads, it's pretty hot at the exhaust ports. Powder has some insulating value, be sure you're cooling system is up to snuff.

Are you worried about the powder failing at the ports? I wasn't going to do near the ports - was goign to mask off. My concern is whether or not 300-400F is too hot for a cylinder head to be baked at. What do you think?

No, heads are fine. COmbustion chamber temps are well above 1000*. And heating a head in the oven, it's being heated unevenly, not the extreme heat variations that are acctually found in a running engine. The block, however, bearings, especially cam bearings should be removed first. And I have heard lots of people having good luck on exh ports, if they are small runners, like chevy. Pontiac exh runners are alot longer, and may cause powder burning during opperation

Thanks for the info! I was going to mask off the port area. I was mostly concerned with if the head will warp or not. The block is completely empty.
