Default black texture application

I am trying the Caswell black texture and find the instructions not very helpful. It says 10 minutes at 390deg then add .004 more. Then what? Any one use this stuff before and have more info to help. I am not getting a consistant product. Aby help would be appriciated...........

Sounds like a call to there tech is in order. But then you have to be cautious there as well. I've not used any of that powder as yet, but may wonder the same. If you find out, post it.

I am doing some motorcycle pegs and they are small parts but I am on my 3rd and fourth time doing this and it's starting to become frustrating. I have not made the call because I am the type to not cry wolf so soon but I think a call will be in order to see what I am doing wrong and for sure I will post it. Thanks for the responds..........

for texture colors
part MUST be super cleaned with not one single spot or it will not wrinkle on that spot
as for 10 mins i think that is way to little time
i'll gave it 20-25
first 10 minutes part might still be a gloss black and practically stating to wrinkle.

I use Dupont Wrinkle black alot, and about the same is true. But the Dupont is 10 min @ 380, any longer and it sags. And definately the base prep needs to be consistent. One of my clients sandblasts, then sometimes hits the plasma torch slag area's with a sanding roll. Fine sanpaper roll, but the Wrinkle lays down totally different in the grinded area's.
Just did a job fro another client, a bunch of flat bar. It was sandblasted, but then handled without gloves. The metal sat for just over a week, and the fingerprint area's flash rusted a bit. You could see the fingerprints through the Wrinkle, and I laid a healthy coat on too.

Moral, clean, clean clean, and Coat ASAP after cleaning/prepping

Just did another oven load of Wrinkle black, 150 Pcs, completely inconsistent. I am really getting ticked off at this powder. Before this, I did 200 SqFt of Jersy cream on aluminum panels, Smooth and even coverage. But the Wrinkle/texture stuff, is a PITFA

are you talking about a wrinkle or a fine texture ?
i use black fin texture from tiger a lot and i always get very good results
finish is close to oem fine texture on hd parts .
it is very consistant and covers small defects very well
once parts reach about 385 i cure for another 15 minutes .works for me
don t be afraid to over cure this powder ,i did overcure by 100 % and no problems but stay below the 400 degrees

I am useing the "black wrinkle" from caswell. Thats the only black wrinkle that I seen on their list. I did not see a "fine texture" and looking at some pictures on the forum my results look more like the fine texture and not like the wrinkle that I am seeing. Sounds like another call to the tech people because I am cirtanly not getting the wrinkle finish that I am seeing that the rest of you are getting. Thanks for all the info guys I will keep everyone posted on my findings. Not willing to give up though, just not real happy with the results..........

Ya, I guess it's a Wrinkle. It's from Cloverdale paint acctually, Dupont made. My customer supplied 100 Lbs of it. He's a ongoing client, with 500+ pcs a month. The powder has a nice texture when applied 'just rigth', kinda sparkles in the sunlight. but a heavy coat, wrinkles.
