Default Xtreme chrome w/ super gloss clear a no go, again

Yesterday I tried to powdercoat a couple brackets extreme chrome with a super gloss clear coat - put the extreme in the oven @ 400F for all of about 12 mins pulled it out, sprayed the clear, put it in the oven for about another 15 - 20 mins, and it came out a very dulled gray. Last time I fully cured the extreme chrome for 30 mins this time I 1/2 cured it and sprayed the clear on right then. I dunno - I am not having much luck with the clear coat on this powder, which is unfortunate because the extreme chrome looks awesome pre-clear coat.

I redid it with just extreme chrome without clear to see how it holds up - it looks really good so far.

I had a simular problem with clear. I had a orange and black piece that I shot clear on and the black turned green. I wanted to throw up!

Yeah exactly I dont know why it happens, either! These brackets will go on my other 5 series (they don't look bad, just not absolutely perfect) and I will re coat the others in just xtreme chrome with no clear. I couldn't blast the clear/chrome off on the first set.

Just use permatex gasket remover. Takes powder coat right off!

Unfortunatly, thats the way it is with the chromes and clear.
Try (on a test piece) applying the extreme chrome and fully cure. Let it cool to room temp, then apply the clear (don't pre-heat the part). Compare it to what you just did and see if the results are better.

I just had the same problems. I have shot it many times without any problems before. I just ordered a one stage chrome so it doesn't need the clear coat.

If you have your heart set on using Extreme, check the Sticky at the very top. I followed it and it came out better then the gray finish.

My bad, I guess those instructions do say to pre-heat before applying the clear.

I sprayed a one stage yesterday and it looked just like the 2 stage when it didn't gray on me.
