Hey guys, just getting into PC here and setting up all my tooling. I just got a small blast cabinet from HF and need to get something to collect all the dust. I have an extra smaller dust collector from my woodworking days and wondered if that would be ok to use on the blast cabinet?
Similar to what is pictured here.

I use a woodworking dust collector similar to that and it works well. The only thing is that it was not intended for use with dust particals as small as what you get with sandblasting vs. woodworking so I had to put it outside so it didn't get dust all over my shop.

yes i use a similar dust collector on one of my blasting cabinets and it s ok ,
you can get different type of bags to put on them the thinner ones don t really filter the dust but the thicker type of bags are much better , and i saw on ebay you can get a big cartrige type filter to replace the bag |

Maybe some kind of small reclaimer in line. I bought a stand alone scat blast reclaimer and used a shop vac, not enough pull, but with that unit you will win the war.

we just got one of these cyclone separators for under $100 shipped (actually we bought two, we got the big boy as well) and they're amazing. they really do keep everything out of the filters. i was skeptical about how much powder coat would make it through, but they surprised me. i'm posting the link to the ebay auction of the one that connects to a shop vac, but if the link expires, search "cyclone separator" and the guy's ebay name is "eastcaroga".

The air spins in the cyclone and the heavy particles fall to the bottom (looks like in the pic a 5 gal bucket is used - with a hole on top - to collect the bigger falling dust and the air gets sucked out - and the cyclone maintained with the cyclone.
Thats my take on it.... It has me thinking about one.... |

You do not want to use the wood chip bag dust collector for sand blasting. There is a REAL health hazard with fine dust. The finest dust partial filtered out in the bag is 3 Microns. If you inhale the small dust partials that get through the bag they stay in the lungs forever.
Read the warnings on the side of your sand. This is what I use.

The best system is the one from zero blast which is a turbine with a cabinet with large cotton filters
