Powder coating over Anodized Aluminum.

Hi new here, so far great forum, a lot of my questions have been answered during searches except this question.

Is it ok to powder coat over aluminum thats already anodized or do I have to strip it completly. I have some left over paintball parts and bodies that I want to experiment with.

i've done it on a couple parts. seems to work fine. adhesion looks good. some of the more experienced guys can tell you better.

it will work fine
how ever be carefull with paintball parts with small air passages like the body,
last thing you need is powder inside the soleniod air holes ,it will affect your working pressures.
and don't forget to cover all the threads

some say it has to be stripped, but i read somewhere that anodize is a good base for powdercoat . i have done a few anodized parts with no problem

it is ok. The larger powder manufacturers state that anodizing AL is 1 of the preferred pretreatments for AL actually.
